Upcoming Webinar From The Arc: Siblings & Future Planning
The Arc is offering a FREE Webinar on Siblings and Future Planning!
When: Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 2:00 pm―3:00 pm Eastern Time
Siblings of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) often take on a larger role once their parents are no longer able to provide support to their brother or sister. Join The Arc for this webinar to hear from two siblings of people with I/DD as they share their perspectives on sibling support:
- Katie Arnold will discuss the sibling role in future planning and provide tips on how to get the conversation started when parents or other caregivers are reluctant to discuss the future.
- Kitty Porterfield will share insight on “The Club Sandwich Generation.” This is a term that refers to adult siblings juggling the responsibilities of providing care to their aging parents and raising their own children, while also supporting their brother or sister with I/DD. She will also address the importance of self-care and how to navigate long-distance sibling relationships.
