Tennessee April Update
It All Starts With One: Tennessee Megaconference
Each year, Disability Megaconference is hosted in the state of Tennessee. This year’s conference, It All Starts with One, will take place on May 21-22, 2015 and will focus on three areas: living, planning, and health. The Tennessee DD Council, one of the partners on the TN CoP team, has been accepted to present two panel discussions regarding supporting families. This is a great event to spread the message of supporting families around the entire state, with an audience of self-advocates, families, and professionals. At the conference, people share the latest ideas and innovations, and it is an honor to have members of the state team included in two presentations.

Disability Day on the Hill
The Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities presented at Disability Day on the Hill about the Community of Practice. The team was excited for the opportunity to share the supporting families message and information about the CoP at the legislative level. The day at the capitol included sharing issues that are the most important to people in Tennessee: providing services for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, preserving the Family Support Program, and ensuring that everyone has access to quality, affordable health care.
