NASDDDS MYC Plenary Panel: Life Sharing
Noal Presley, from Resources for Human Development-Missouri (RHD-MO), along with an individual supported by RHD, will represent the provider perspective and highlight the importance of provider selection and a good match, training, caregiver supports, and quality assurance. RHD-MO is a pioneer of supports for individuals with developmental disabilities in Missouri and is one of few providers offering the companion model of living in the state.
Dave Toeniskoette, from Dungarvin, an organization that provides community-based supports in a number of states and for people with a variety of support needs, will present his insight on the legalities and nuisances of shared living when it comes to compliance with labor, independent contracting, and taxes.
Nancy Thaler, from the Pennsylvania (PA) state developmental disabilities agency, will share her thoughts on shared living from a state DD agency perspective, discussing why states should support shared living models, as well as how to approach the regulatory and payment framework.
