Getting Organized for 2016 in Missouri
Missouri Tools and Practices Workgroup
The LifeCourse Tools and Practices Workgroup, which has been instrumental in the development and piloting of the LifeCourse framework and tools in Missouri, is organized for 2016. The full monthly meeting schedule is available and includes virtual meetings hosted at local sites as well as face-to-face meetings in the center of the state.
The purpose of convening workgroup members at local sites is to foster collaboration and new partnerships. The group is also using video-conferencing as a means of decreasing the economic costs associated with statewide collaboration.
The LifeCourse Tools and Practices Workgroup develop new LifeCourse tools as needed, coaches professionals who are using the tools, continuously improves tools based on feedback, and provides guidance to organizations on implementing the framework.
LifeCourse Community-Wide Events
Members of the Missouri CoP team are also gearing up for five regional events in 2016 to gather together those who work with people with developmental disabilities across the entire lifespan, including self-advocates, families, support coordinators, direct care workers, educators, and employment staff. The events will expose attendees to the LifeCourse framework and tools, share examples of the LifeCourse in action, and show how it can be used to help achieve the good life at various levels.
