Brian’s Story: Teaching your children the mundane, everyday stuff we all do #supportingfamilies @In4mingFamilies

 

This awesome video was shown today at the COP Yearly Annual Meeting by the Washington state team.  This video introduces the community of practice and highlights the story of Brian and his family, who have supported in him to create an inclusive life by doing the “mundane.” 



Rachel is the Media & Design Specialist on the Family to Family team at the UMKC-Institute for Human Development, UCEDD. She completed her Master's in Public Administration with an emphasis in nonprofit management at UMKC. She is proud to say she is a second generation AmeriCorps member! Her passion is where social justice and technology meet. Her specialty is making projects, programs, and organizations look good.

    This is a great story of Brian. I only hope most parents and DSPs can see this and help their individuals explore and have access to their communities and resources to make an independent living. It can be hard work, but the willingness to give them the opportunity like everybody else, speaks volume.
